Search Engine Land is proud to launch a new industry awards program, “The Landy Awards” (#TheLandys) to recognize individuals, agencies and internal marketing teams within the digital marketing community who have demonstrated excellence in executing organic and paid search marketing initiatives.
Several members of the editorial staff at Search Engine Land have formed an advisory board and judging panel, along with assistance from industry leaders at Bing, Google and SEMPO to create the inaugural list of award categories and entry criteria. Additional judges will be added to the lineup over the coming weeks, stay tuned for future announcements.
The search marketing community has donated generously over the years by attending SMX After Dark, the premier social/networking event at SMX East. More than $60,000 has been given to a host of charities including Alex’s Lemonade Stand, the Boomer Esiason Foundation, Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Continuing the tradition of giving, The 2015 Landy Awards will be presented at the SMX After Dark evening reception and all profits generated from sponsors, event participants and entry fees will go to charity. Third Door Media guarantees a minimum donation of $5,000.
The two non-profit organizations we have chosen to support this year are: Be The Match, a global leader in bone marrow research and donor registry, and a S.T.E.M. / Computer Science non-profit organization also backed by many tech leaders, CODE. Expect to learn more about these two worthy causes in the coming months!

For 2015, there are 12 categories across search marketing disciplines, covering several aspects of SEO, SEM, Local, Mobile and Retail search marketing.
Each category has specific entry criteria. We strongly recommend you review each in detail before crafting your entry submission. All initiatives and campaigns submitted for consideration must have been executed between August 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015.
We have provided some guidelines to help you form a compelling submission for the judges’ review. The more detailed the data, the better, but within the limits set by each category. (Every category requires an Executive Summary – 750 words or less, plus 3 pages maximum of supporting results.)
Profits from the entry fees collected will go towards the charity you select, or may be split 50/50 amongst the two options.
There is also a PAY IT FORWARD category, where the entry fee is waived for any search marketing efforts performed on a volunteer basis for a non-profit organization.
