With summer often comes different business hours. In tourist areas, for example, local shops are often open longer. Now’s the time to make sure that when people search on Google your business listing says you’re open during your adjusted summer hours.
Thursday, Google launched gybo.com/summer for businesses to quickly check how their Google My Business listing is displaying, including whether they are currently open or closed.
Google surveyed small businesses in June and found that a quarter of them change their operating hours during the summer, yet Google My Business shows just 1 percent of businesses have adjusted their hours on Google My Business since Memorial Day this year.
With 52 percent of consumers using search to look specifically for business hours, and even more using search to get information about making local purchases, according to an Ipsos study in 2014, it’s obviously important your summer business hours are reflected in local business listings.
There isn’t an automated way to switch on summer hours in Google My Business, so if you haven’t made your updates yet, now’s the time to make the change — and set a reminder to change your hours back in the fall.
