Google Tests New Red Live Label In Search Results To Label Real-Time Breaking Content

Google is testing a new label in the search results that highlights content that is being covered by reporters in a real-time or live manner. Live blog or live reporting is very common in the journalistic world these days, and Google may feel that live coverage deserves a special icon in the search results.

To highlight this live coverage, Google is testing showing a red label that reads “LIVE” next to the article.

Bryson Meunier spotted this example in the mobile search results for a query on Sepp Blatter yesterday, when he was suspended. Here is a picture of the label:

As you can see, the title of the article also contains the word “live.”

Google tested many labels in the mobile results recently, including slow to load, red slow labels and mobile-friendly labels. This is just one more test.
